Church Lay Pastoral Assistant
Our Church Lay Pastoral Assistant is Melanie Campbell. Mel focusses on Pastoral work within the Church through:
- Supporting the Minister and pastoral visitors in the care and support of church members and others involved in the life of the Church.
- Working with the Minister and church members to explore further opportunities for mission.
- Developing initiatives with the Church to grow our profile in the community, encouraging more people to worship and take part in church activities.

“My name is Mel Campbell and I am so excited to be your Lay Pastoral Worker. I am really looking forward to spending time with you and discovering together God's mission and love in Shildon.
Some of you may know I am about to be ordained as deacon in the Church of England and I sometimes support the URC with some work too - so I am a walking LEP!
I am married to Ewan and our family is grown up now. We have a daughter and son living in Darlington and Leeds. When I'm not working or studying, I love to walk, run (not very far!), grow veg, and be with my friends and family.
I am so looking forward to meeting you all.
