Baptism (Christening)
If you are considering having your child baptised at our Church, please contact the Minister who will be delighted to discuss this with you. Our Minister, Rev Andy Bryer, can be contacted by telephone on 01388 778207 or by email at  andrew.bryer@methodist.org.uk.

When someone is baptised, Christians publically celebrate the love of God expressed in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Almost all Christian Churches, practice Baptism and those who are baptised in the Methodist Church are part of the world-wide Church of Christ. Baptism is a sign of belonging to Jesus and beginning a journey of faith with him. Baptisms at Shildon Methodist Church normally take place at 12 noon, after morning worship.

There is no charge for Baptism but there are offering plates as you leave after the ceremony if you and your guests do wish to give a donation as a thank you afterwards.

If you are seeking Baptism for yourself, this will no doubt be something you have been thinking and praying about for some time. Please speak to your minister, about preparation for Baptism. It is usual to be confirmed and received into membership of The Methodist Church at the same service in which you are baptized.
